Building the structure (part 2)

Materials used

Today I continued placing the base ribs. I still had to mark these out based on the track plan and the actual build. It was quite a task because the drawing and reality are never 100% the same. Especially the planned height differences, the descending provincial road for the cars, and the section where the road disappears under the tracks required some rethinking of previous decisions.

After a lot of thinking and drawing, it was time to fire up the circular saw and the jigsaw and start cutting into the 12mm plywood.

After sawing, I naturally set up the ribs, aligned them, and screwed them into place. Not a whole lot to tell, but the model railway is slowly starting to take shape. Next time, we’ll continue with the horizontal lanes for the tracks and the road surface. Then we can finally start laying the rails and roads!!!
